The European Institute of Law, Science and Technology joined forces with the Environmental Defense Fund, the International Emissions Trading Association and a group of 39 companies, business groups and non-governmental organizations to call for the development of “sound” carbon accounting mechanisms, during COP24. The Katowice Declaration on Sound Carbon Accounting urges countries to adopt rules in order to avoid the critical issue of double counting emissions reductions under the Paris Agreement.
